Let it "stop" snowing!

Howdy every one!
happpy new year.{still...} Well it is saturday here in the great state O' Maine, and it is snowing again! The other day we had about 5 or six inches, and today it was only supposed to be a dusting, but i think the weatherman was off by a few inches...WE are far from being snowed in, it is nice beacuse we dont have to drive to work or shop. The only real trouble with the snow is that makes parking close to a nightmare intown. The streets get smaller and we loose about 5 parking spots on every block. A situation easily remidied with beer and vidieos. {they deliver}
I will try today to get some pics of the little milo out in the snow...

a poem with no title (for Milo)

You were conceived in the month of August
amongst the days of blue
& full skied afternoons
when Mars hung in the sky
like a red light bulb
turning my stomach with rinds
of oranges & peach pits

A force working within me
navigating a course among the galaxies
of a pulpy womb
& as the red planet receded into the sky it
cast a shadow across the moon
marked a starling within

we settled in amongst the rocks
&nested over the winter

You grew
thriving off potatoes and chocolates,
bananas and bread
swimming inside as I bundled you against
the cold of January, of February, of March
wrapping you in wool, down, cotton and skin
distending me so that you began to glow
a flash of light from my belly

In spring, your fingers and toes started to move downward
finding the exit to this crazy spaceship of a belly
you, our fruit, hung low on this mother tree,
a ripe fig, a juicy kumquat
your lovely long limbs pushing outward and in
and out once more, again

you bloomed on the 5th of May
and grew the solar system one more bit
grew the vegetable patch, and the orchard,
unearthed this whole garden
with your crazy fruit-
a star, an apple
a baby
oh you

Revenge of the Todd!

Well what can I say. The golf is no more.....

Our beloved V W golf the first car we owned as a family has finally departed us. It has been a ghost of late. Hiding out in the parking lot of work pretending to still have a chance of resurrection. It was up for sale for a while, no one took a chance at 500 bucks. We tried to donate it, like our last car but alas they politely declined us. I tried to give it away on "freecycle" but they passed over his now faded glory. "Todd" {the VW} always had a place in our heart, his speedy little engine taking us away from the big city of Philadelphia. HE had many "quirks" to say the least. Like over heating in traffic and shedding him self of tires on the interstate highway at one in the morning, but I digress. My co-workers realized the thing hasn't been moving, taking up valuable space. I was able to find some one interested in "junkrs" to whisk him away like a "heffer to the slaughterr" The tow truck came ona monday, I stepped out just as he had the car starting up the ramp. We shook hands and chatted as the car rose up the platform. It was an interesting sound, a little squeak barely audible over the working truck engine. The little metal hook was free from the car! The piece snapped off of the body. Todd realizing his last bit of freedom decided to make a run for it off of the inclined truck bed. My truck friend tried to stop Todd from his crazy idea of leaving but I know at over one ton it decides where it wants to go.
I am happy to report that Todd didn't take out any other cars in a last violent attempt at revenge{though he came close}
Thus the Keys Fam of N.E. were free of a very fickle car, unlike our newer Ford Escort, which has run flawlessly!

{{editors note- a few days after Todds departure the Ford decided not to start, and act up in general}}

A Very Mercy Christmas

We had an interesting early afternoon here in Portland. Milo had a Christmas visit with the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room.....
After Chris left for work at 11am, I noticed Milo had a hard edge to his right ear lobe that was hot and red. One always dreds things like frostbite in these wintry parts, I called my Mom and Liz and than the Doctor on call who told me to go to the ER. So we got all bundeled up and walked the block and a half to the quiet hospital(where I happen to work). Milo greeted all the nurses with big smiles and had a ball climbing on the stretcher as we waited for the Doctor. After wrestling a bit with the doctor while he examined his ear, we got good news, the hardness in his ear could be the start of a cyst (thank god no frostbite) he told me to put some hot compresses on it and if it gets worse give him antibiotics which he gave a prescription to be used if necessary.
We hopped down the street one more block to visit Chris with the good news! I was very relieved, no more hospitals for this little guy!
On a happy note, Milo ate his first mashed banana today and loved it!
And he was also saying things like "Mama and BABABABBAABABA"

To all a good night!
